Sriwijaya or also called Srivijaya; Thai: ศรีวิชัย or "Ṣ̄rī wichạy" is one of maritime kingdom that standed in Sumatra island and gave much influence on Indonesian Archipelago. This kingdom had authority area from Cambodia, South Siamese, Malayan peninsula, Sumatra, Java, and Borneo coastal area.
In Sanskrit, Sri it means glittering or shining and Wijaya it means glory or victory, so Sriwijaya means a victory that shining.
The early evidence about this kingdom came in 7 century., when a chinese monk, I Tsing wrote that he came to Sriwijaya in 671 A.D. and he stayed on there for 6 month. Furthermore, the eldest ancient inscription about Sriwijaya also came from 7 century, and it called Kedukan Bukit's ancient inscription that found in Palembang with figure 682 A.D.
