Wayang Golek Antik Characters

Main Characters of "Wayang Golek Antik" (Old Wayang Puppets), from left to right :

-Djalu (Eduard Zaalberg)

A young Indo who ran away from home in Nederland in search of his late Sundanese mother's family in Bandung, Indonesia as well as embracing his Indonesia heritage.
His love for wayang puppets comes from his late mother and his favorite wayang puppet is Hanoman. He's quite ignorant of Indonesian ways of living thus both Ayu, Edo and Fatimah teased him a lot on this.
He's aware of the privileges bestowed upon European descendants during colonial times and the treatments Indo receives back in Europe.

- Ayu Pitaloka

A young Ambon Sundanese girl who went to Bandung in search for a job. She then works as Djalu's assistant.
She dreamt of marrying a rich European so her status as a Pribumi (natives) can be elevated, which constantly brought her to conflict with Djalu, an Indo who realistically points out that such schemes will not always means you can escape from systematic racism.

- Edo Osamat

An Asmat who moved to Bandung to work as a KNIL administrator. Edo is warm and friendly. He often laments about the food in Bandung that is too spicy or too salty and often try to convince Fatimah to sell Sagoo in her Padang cuisines. His favorite wayang puppet is Rama.

- Fatimah

Owner of Rumah Makan Padang Fatimah. A devout Muslim who is equally devoted to the arts of Wayang Golek, especially the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata.
Semar is her favorite wayang puppet.
