*Shinta is Indonesian for Sita (Ramayana).

Indonesia, I must say, seemed to know and cherish Ramayana and Mahabharata better than we (India) do.

Begitu jg dgn Pujangga Timboel yg terinspirasi dgn gerakan kemerdekaan Mahatma Gandhi

This is amazing ;_;

I wish Indonesians are...actually like Indonesia (your character). She's really down-to-earth, unlike most kids nowadays TT_TT

I mean, if we realistically portray Indonesian as a Hetalia character, then he will be the kind of person to not realize that others are taking advantage of him, that he's really rich, always got blown by other countries' cultures, on and on...

Honestly, Indonesian kids nowadays aren't like Indonesians. It's like, most of us forgets who we are. Really. If I draw a sarcasm Indonesia character, he'll be like; all Japan, Harajuku in a week, the other week he's all Korean, and most of the time, acting like westerns... *cries in the corner*

BUT! Your manga restores my faith in my nationality. Now, if only we can really be friends with everyone without losing our true-self, without having to be a doormat to other superior country...I think things will begin to change. This doujinshi contributes to that, so keep on doing your best, Sita-san! :D

By the way, whenever I see Singapore, India, Indonesia and Malaysia together...and I play Bolo Ta Ra Ra in the back ground, I begin to imagine...hilarious things. (Bollywood dancing~) (Have you heard Bolo Ta Ra Ra?)

This Indonesia is the Indonesia of 1890s, during colonial time where the threat of culture genocide is very real.

Im afraid what you mentioned is 21st century Alay kids ^^; which does not represent all Indonesians.

If all Indonesians are like what you mentioned, then how come we can organiza International Ramayana Festival in 2012 and 2013? :D

Hmm...1890? Maybe it's just me, but she should be even older, right? O_O Maybe it's just me, but she's only representing Java...My friends from Papua here don't seem excited when I show your manga ;_; they said it's "Jawa lagi, Jawa lagi" (I'm sorry, I promise this isn't me).

Her personality is also closer to Javanese women, gentle and cheerful, dramatic...if she's a bipolar, then suddenly she turns into Batak, suddenly Madura and BOOM. America, Japan and Holland might know true fear...Well, I don't know about Holland ("World revolves around money, derp") Or Papua, she will be a wild, free-spirited and sassy girl...ahh, so many different contradicting people in one Country!

But I guess Indonesia is such a hard character to write...she's supposed to have too many cultures and such a wide country. Everything is focused in Java. She doesn't have only one traditional outfit...She can dance many different traditional dances. There are a lot of temples spreading on almost every islands.

Yeah, Alay kids. ;_; But of course! I only watched Ramayana Festival last year through videos...since I couldn't go, and I was only meaning to refer to 'most' Indonesians. Eeespecially the 21st century brats.

True, I have tried to draw her in many of Indonesia cultures, from Ambon, Padang, Bali, Makassar, etc. As you can see in previous Maaf pages I have drawn her as Spice Island (Maluku), Aceh during Keumalayahati era and Makassar during Gowa era.

It would be helpful if your friend can share with me Indonesian culture and history regarding Papua, I will try to incorporate them to the story as well as well as her personality :D

Thank you so much Alex :D Im so flattered by your kind words.

India meet Indonesia during Ramayana era 400-500BC as stated in Ramayana during the quest to look for Princess Sita when she was kidnapped by Ravana. King Rama ordered Hanuman and his army to look for Sita in Swarnadwipa (Sumatera island) and Jawadwipa (Java island), both located in Indonesia. You can look up in the first pages on Maaf Chp 3.

From there Indonesia has been adopting Buddhist and Hindu cultures from India. The process of culture absorption did not take the route of conquest by India, but from the traveling Brahmin (priests) from India. Many of Indonesians Srivaja empire nobles went to Nalanda University in India during the 9th century to learn more about Buddhism.

When India fell to the influence of Muslim Delhi empire, Hinduism in Indonesa thrive. Indonesian Sanjaya dynasty and Hindu Majapahit empire which encompass modern day Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Brunei and Singapore is one of the largest maritime empire at the time and we are able to expell Mongol invasion to ASEAN seas. To this that there many ancient Hindu and Buddha temples dating from 9th century in Indonesia.

Aside from Buddhism and Hinduism, India Gujarat merchants introduce Islam to Indonesia. Our earliest Imam introduce Islam in the form of Wayang (Shadow Puppet) retelling of Mahabharata epics. The warriors of Pandawa in Mahabrata said to gain great strength and enlightment from believing in Allah SWT. Islam was adopted in 15th century in Indonesia.

Egypt in 10th century used to trade spices from Indonesia to be sold in Europe. This spices are prized highly as medicines. In the modern times Egypt is the first country to recognize Indonesia indpendence and is a member of Asia Africa Conference held in Indonesia.

Can you tell me more about Egypt's culture and history? I would like to know more :D

WOW...i never knew mongol was about to invade ASEAN islands!!!!!!...& wow thats a really nice way to introduce islamic religion through puppet show!! :D............. :iconshymonkeyplz: i don't know, its just my feelings but, if egypt hadn't introduced spices to the Europeans, ASEAN islands wouldn't had suffered years of violence & prosecution from the Europeans...i kinda feel like egypt is partly responsible in what happened :'( ...i'm sorry , although it happened years ago, but i kinda feel sentimental when it comes to historical tragedy....we didn't know things would evolve this way back then!!!Miuna Crying Icon

about egypt's culture & history......man where do i begin!! :
my dad is better when it comes to history & geography of egypt, he even said that ancient egypt have met the Aztecs (south america) & australia (the aboriginal natives)...legend said that the ancient pharaohs went to the moon, & even turning sand into gold!!!!!wow, imagine that!!! it is said that the first pharaoh Narmer of the first dynasty, has captured one of them long-neck dinosaurs!!! www.google.ca/search?q=first+p… .....if you think about it, egypts history is as old as the creation of humanity!!!!....i remember that it came along pharaoh Menes, the one who united both north & south egypt, he is one of the many ancient egyptians that i dearly respect, beside Asia, foster mother of Moses, & Joseph's best friend who was a pharaoh!!....egypt have went through hell alot in the past like the invasions, plagues, infestation, 7 yrs of starvation, drought & turning the river nile into blood by Allah's will!!....& still egypt nowadays has its problem but different ways..although, egypt's name was mentioned in the holly quran 10 times or more...all that, & still Allah have faith in us!! :') ... *sniff*

Anyways, our first contact to the outside world was greece!!! they are like the west & we are the east! greece was the first civilized western country probably because they learned from us, that made us really have alot in common!! ancient egypt (thebes) & ancient greece (elatha) were really friends/family like relations even nowadays!!... in the middle kingdom, egypt was florishing significantly, its like at its highest civility & technology!! like a fairy tale & sci-fi world mixed together!!...egypt's first celestial religion was Judaism, which came from moses. then christianity came from the romans, & then we learned arabic from the arabs who came to introduce islam to egypt (it was the end of the pharaonic era) but it was the golden age of the islamic countries including both science & literature!!...our first trade of spice was to italy, thats why the reinessence started at rome! ;)

then the ottoman empire ruled egypt for a very long time, & lets just say that it wasn't pretty...it put the European invasion of both africa/asia tragedies to shame...but right now egypt & turkey are in peace relationship!! but greece can't forgive turkey, i don't blame him either!!!...in WWI & II, egypt was introduced to technology by the british, germans & russians!! we respects both germans & russians for giving us weapons to fight back & free the egyptians from both the British & the ottomans!! ....few days ago, i watched this old rare noir egyptian movie of a huge country protest against the british, both greek neighbours & Pakistani muslims exchange students were protesting in kicking out the british from egypt!! i was astonished!!

in culture, well: we egyptians are known to having this significant egyptian accent that no other arabian speaker have it!! :D
we are extremely funny, loud, obnoxious, stubborn hot-headed genius beast of burdens!! XD....i don't know why himayura made egypt so silent, but i'm waiting for him to crack!! XD

Its really alright, Egypt is only a merchant. The faults are on the colonizers who just decided they want to invade us for spices. No hard feelings, alright ^^

Wowww, that is very interesting :D

I didnt know that the Pharaoh of the Narmer dynasty caught dinosaurs. I heard Egypt is a very old civilization, but I never realize it was THAT old. Subhanallah :D

Wait, what? This is the first time I heard that river Nile turned into blood, when did this happen and why? O.O

Yes Egypt is very lucky to be mentioned in the Qur'an :D Indonesia is kinda late to join the Muslim brotherhood bandwagon but now we got the tittle for the most populous Muslim country on earth XDDD lol, just kidding.

I have no idea that the Ottoman empire was ruthless to Egypt... but why? I thought both are Muslim brothers...
Ah plz forgive me for thinking like this, since most of Indonesia neighbours are mostly Buddhist, Hindu and Christian, I found it puzzling why Ottoman treated Egypt horribly.

Interesting, can you tell me more about Egypt fight against Britain? 8333

Really? I didnt know Egypt true personality was like that XDD lol.
Can you tell me Egypt traditional dress and what would Egypt wear in the late 19th century?

*sniff*..thanks :')

yeah, we are that old!! kinda makes egypt like a grandpa! XD ...a month or so, i just read this old news that there are dinosaurs fossils was excavated in egypt in the late 1930s!!! www.google.ca/search?q=dinosau…  it was a proof that dinosaurs roamed north africa since the earliest pharaoh era!!..it was supposed to be displayed in the egyptian museum, but the british sold it to london to display it there instead!!!...good thing it got destroyed mysteriously!!! god sure works in his mysterious ways!! if we egyptians can't have them, then its better of lost then to be captured by someone else!!

yeah, its mentioned in the quran & the prophets stories!! if you recall correctly, prophet Moses was born in egypt, hence Judaism started there!!..when he grew stronger, Allah ordered him to complete his teachings & messages to the people of egypt!! you know like greece, egypt has more than 1000 statues of different gods & deities to be worshipped (& it has a tax benefits aswell)!!! :/ ..... when moses taught people of egypt that there is only one true powerful god named Allah, that must be worshipped & prayed, the priest of egypts & the pharaoh (ramsees II) were threatened that alot of egyptian people will convert!! thus the famous conflicts & struggles between the pharaoh & Moses started!! Allah sent many heavenly punishments to egypt such as swarm sand tornadoes, frogs, grasshoppers & lice!!! & Allah ordered the nile river to turn into blood so no egyptians can swim or drink from it!!!..its kinda really a cruel punishment so at that time the egyptians can't clean themselves, thats why the fashion of shaving heads & wigs started to spread (back then they kinda lived like the European mid-ages)!!....& you know the drill...at the end, moses escaped with alot of jewish egyptians to the red sea, the sea split in two by god's will & moses's staff (if you visit the red sea & dive deeply, you may still find traces of the staff's mark)!, moses & his people walk safely to the other side, while the pharaoh & his men drowned trying to do so!!...nowadays, we have the body of the pharaoh lying in the biggest egyptian museum in cairo, in its top condition, since Alla wants him this way!
www.google.ca/search?q=pharaoh…

well atleast, indonesia is mentioned in the bible, while egypt is viewed as a nasty villain spawn of devil in the bibles!!!!

well long story short...religion has nothing to do with a person being good or bad!!...the ottomans learned islam from the arabs in the golden era of islam..although many arabian countries were in its highest civility & religion, slave trading was still common even the long pass of prophet Mohammed (pbuh)!!!...the slaves whom came to the arabian peninsula where sadly young boys from europe (mostly Hittites & Anatolia, Turkey nowadays)!!! they were called the "mamlook"="being owned" in arabic...they were later mostly freed from being slaves & were taught religion, self defence, when they grew up they have the authority to rule the country..& when they went to east europe to spread the religion, they weren't doing it right!! instead they kidnapped alot of children & women from east europe to serve them later (they took advantage of religion about the parts of slave abolition & polygamy, which they practised it wrongfully)...thats why alot of east europe hate islam religion!!!!this is when the ottomans gathered enough mobility to rule other countries such as egypt, sudan, syria & greece!!.. until 1952, the reign of the turks in egypt has been quite hell on earth!!! they would kidnap young egyptian boys to serve at their palaces!!, they would steel alot of the countries economy to build palaces, they steal hundreds of acres of lands that originally belongs to the egyptian farmers!! they would force there culture on the egyptian society through dressing like the turkish while the ottomans wear the highest fashions from europe!!, they are extremely arrogant!!they would punish anyone who oppose them!!........it kinda feels like the hatred is scar deep from the past, & they want to punish the arabs on what happened to their ancestors!!.....well, as i said before, egypt is in peace with turkey nowadays, even a few years ago the grand son of king Farouq (last turkish ruler of egypt) asked for an egyptian citizenship (which is extremely impossible if you are not egyptian of an egyptian parents)!!

the main reason why the british came to egypt in the first place in 1880s was because of the suez canal: an artificial sea-level waterway, connecting the Mediterranean sea & the red sea. Opened in November 1869 after 10 years of construction, it allows ships to travel between europe & eastern asia without navigating around africa. the british want it to be completely seized & all the money & taxes goes to the british empire not the egyptian government (although more than 3000 egyptian constructors died in building the canal with no further payment or compensations) furthermore, the british killed alot of egyptian civilian, thats enough reason why we fought back!!!

well, here is a picture of how egyptians dressed in 19 century www.google.ca/search?q=war+bet…

man i should make egypt hetalia outfits through timeline ASAP!! :D
