=> RACE - The Power of an Illusion

What's the big deal about classifying people into different racial categories?
Race was never just a matter of categories. It was a matter of creating hierarchies. Race was about a racist system of supremacy in which one group dominated the other. And I think that when we look at the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries the key moment where race becomes congealed as a system is where we can see the creation of a color line.
Race, or the creation of racism, was really about the invention of a dominant group. In this case the dominant group were the slave owners - the dominant group were those who conquered the world - the Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and English. And here you get the emergence of this idea of a white race, you know a kind of pan-European white race. On the other side of that color line are all these different groups: indigenous peoples, Native Americans, Africans, Asians, who then get marked as something different and combined.

kompeni dulu ngerendahin kita dengan rasis, tapi jaman sekarang kita yg ngerasis ke bule XD
kalo ga salah bule pada marah kalo dipanggil bule, rasis katanya :3 lol
mereka terlalu sensi :3 lol
kalo kata forum ekspat, itu karena mereka terbiasa menjadi orang yg menunjuk warna kulit/ras orang lain (negro, asian) tapi mereka ga pernah/ kulit mereka tidak dihitung, jadi yah culture shock deh XD
makanya jangan suka ngeliat orang pake warna, ga enak kan kalo dibalik wahai bule lol
But that is just how I licke to see it end.
I have to agree we treated Dutch population in Indonesia very badly since after WW2 Netherlands tries to invade Indonesia back using the loan money obtained from USA. This invasion despite Indonesia already declared Independence in 1945. In the end we expatriate 500,000 or more Dutch people out from Indonesia back to their motherland.
Please do, I'd love to hear your opinion.
well, I'm pretty sure he's pressured and stressed out by his people to find a place where there's more farm land then his own. He's kinda a small country in Europe even though he's got the same height as Germany my thought osn that are because he recovered many lands for the ocean, he got bigger but I'm getting of topic.
I also 50% sure that they didn't claim all farm lans for there own, I think he let the indoneans also have some lands for their crops to grow.
That they feel surperior to the people is because Europeans for a long time believed they more educated then the rest of the world.
Well, I hope this helps...
The crops that Netherlands Colonial masters (Boss) forced us to plant are Cash Crops. The ones that could be sold in a high price in European markets, the likes of nutmegs, coffee, sugar, etc. Those rice fields that we usually use to plant paddy, now is used for crops that we dont consume. What is most unfortunate is, Netherlands never paid us and forced us to work for free or else we will be killed. Regardless there are many killed due to starvation and fatigue. The Queen of Netherlands? Oh she generously made a painting on her carriage of Indonesian royals bowing to her feet.
Kindly please imagine Netherlands in our shoe. One day suddenly Germany came and declared that Netherlands land belongs to them, invaded them with high tech weapons. The natives people of Netherlands are forced to work for Germany for free or else the punishment will be murder. Meanwhile Germany continues to belittle Netherlands, calling them names and justifying the killings of the people due to some racist believes. Destroying Netherlands castle, plundering their arts and riches, destroying cultures. Your Royal families went exiled, as well as plundering the whole nation.
That happened to us, Indonesians as well for 350 yrs.
Not to worry, Netherlands is not alone in regards to colonialism.
