Please help the victims of Typhoon Bopha that just hit the Philippines. Please send your aid to the nearest Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance as soon as possible. These people are without homes, food, medicines and blankets. Your help will be greatly appreciated and will save lives. May God help the victims go through this difficult times.

The death toll from a typhoon that devastated the Philippines earlier this month will likely hit 1,500, making it the second deadliest since the country began keeping records, the civil defence chief said Saturday, December 22. Typhoon Bopha (international designation: 1224, JTWC designation: 26W, PAGASA designation: Pablo) was a tropical cyclone which formed unusually close to the equator. Bopha is the strongest tropical cyclone to ever hit the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, making landfall as a Category 5 super typhoon with winds of 160 mph (260 km/h).[1] Bopha is also the second-most southerly category 5 super typhoon, reaching a minimum latitude of 7.4°N on December 3. Only Typhoon Louise of 1964 came closer to the equator at this strength, reaching 7.3°N.[1] After first hitting Palau, where it destroyed houses,disrupted communications and caused power outages, flooding and uprooted trees, Bopha made landfall late on December 3 over Mindanao, an island that had been devastated by Washi in December 2011.[2][3] The storm caused widespread destruction on Mindanao, leaving thousands homeless and more than 600 fatalities.[4]

After hitting Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley provinces, Typhoon Bopha crossed the southern Mindanao and central regions, cutting power to two provinces and triggering landslides. More than 170,000 fled to evacuation centers. The typhoon has since moved to the South China Sea west of the Palawan island province; government meteorologists predict the typhoon's future path could be across Vietnam or southern China.[5] Source :[link](2012)

SUBANG: ASEAN's Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance has sent relief items to southern Philippines through its logistics hub at Subang military air base.
